Sony's CYBERSHOT DSC-F828 8MP Digital Zoom Camera ( Cyber-shot DCS-F828 )
The Sony CYBERSHOT DSC-F828 8MP Digital Zoom Camera ( DCS-F828 ) is the first 8 mega pixel (MP) Digital Zoom Camera to incorporate four-color filter CCD technology and a Real Imaging Processor. These new components are integral in capturing color accuracy closest to what the human eye can see, setting a new benchmark in camera performance. The new (RGB+E) filter adds an emerald-colored pixel to the filter pattern, realizing color fidelity that is closer to human color perception. Photographers will notice an extraordinarily life-like rendering of blue, blue-green and red hues. The Real Imaging Processor delivers increased speed with lower power consumption, enabling the F828 to capture an eight-megapixel image in almost half the time required by typical five-megapixel cameras! New manual controls, coupled with Carl Zeiss T* optics, gives advanced photographers a broader range of mechanisms to determine focus, exposure and recording modes. Images can be stored onto CompactFlash Type I and Type II media, as well as a Microdrive hard disk drive or Memory Stick PRO media. The Cyber-shot F828 truly embodies a premier imaging experience, and is perfect to fit the needs of today's prosumer digital photographer.

The
DSC-F828 has a purple flaring (or halo) discoloration
when shooting backlit subject matter, shooting
at altitude, shooting in really bright conditions
or taking time exposures with spotlight, head
light or night lighting in the frame. It is
highly recommended that you purchase the Polarizing
Filter Kit above for your new camera. Not only
is it great lense protector, but you will find
improved color, less noise and sharper clarity
in your output, especially in high light conditions
like shooting on/around water, ice and snow,
or at high altitude where less natural atmosphere
results in greater light exposure.
Sony's 8.0-megapixel CCD image sensor provides the
Cyber-shot DSC F828 camera with a maximum image size of 3360
x 2460, equating into 11 x 17-inch prints at 200 DPI or 8.5
x 11-inch prints at 300 DPI.
The camera features a Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* 7X Zoom
lens (28 - 200mm, 35mm equivalent) with manual Zoom for greater
framing control, to fully extract the performance of the 8.0-megapixel
CCD sensor
Five-Area Multi-Point Auto Focus evaluates five separate
areas of the frame and intelligently focuses on the subject,
displaying the selected focus point, or the user can choose
any of the five points for manual control.
NightShot Infrared System enables the camera to capture
INFRARED images in total darkness at a distance of up to 15
feet
NightFraming System captures crisp images in low or
no light, this feature illuminates the subject with the NightShot
system for proper framing, focuses with Hologram AF illuminator
and lights the scene with the appropriate amount of flash.
In addition to JPEG and TIFF formats, the camera supports
Sony's RAW format, which allows the photographer to change
the parameters of an image (e.g., White Balance and color
depth). Software will be included for converting RAW files.
MPEG-VX Fine Mode records video at 640 x 480 Pixel
Resolution at 30 frames per second, up to the capacity of
the storage device, for TV-quality video.
Multi-Point Auto Focus - By evaluating 5 separate
focus areas of the frame, Sony's Multi-point AF system can
intelligently focus on the subject and avoid mistakenly focusing
on the background.
Memory Stick Media - Digital. Powerful. Transportable.
Memory Stick media is compact, portable and rugged - connecting
a variety of hardware and software applications.
Slow Shutter Noise Reduction - This process captures
the scene in two exposures. The second subtracts the noise
pattern from the initial shot, resulting in a final beautiful
photograph that is virtually noise-free.
Hologram AF Low Light Laser Focusing Assist - Hologram
AF reads the contrast from a laser pattern and the subject
for accurate focus in low light conditions.
Multi-Pattern Measuring - Independently light-metering
49 points of the frame, Multi-Pattern measuring establishes
the optimum exposure value, even in scenes where pronounced
highlight and shadow are not centered in the frame.
Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar Lens - Famous for its superior
sharpness and color accuracy, the Vario-Sonnar lens is the
most advanced multi-layer optical coating system.
Super Nightshot 0 Lux System - Low light? No problem.
Absolutely no light? No sweat! Now you can capture video even
in total darkness (0 lux). Sony's NightShot system uses infrared
light to capture images invisible to the human eye. You can
shoot subjects like sleeping babies up to 10 feet away in
total darkness. Invented by Sony, the NightShot system is
available on selected Sony Handycam camcorders and Cybershot
Digital Cameras. With the optional HVL-IRC NightShot light
available for Handycam camcorders, you can even capture images
from up to 100 feet away! Top models have Sony's Super NightShot
system, which automatically adjusts the shutter speed for
even better exposure and even greater detail.
